Walter Anthony

Walter Robert Anthony (81) of Plain City, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 following a short illness.

Son of Emory and Elizabeth Anthony, Walt was born in 1943 in Rochester, Pennsylvania and attended Warren Area high school.

After retirement, Walt spent his time visiting family, volunteering at church, playing games at the senior center, hunting, gardening (which he learned from his father), taking his dogs to the dog park, and eating snacks.

In 1963, Walt married Carol Jean Buchanan. They moved out of Warren, Pennsylvania to a 13-acre farm in Lander, Pennsylvania where they raised 4 children. Their final move was from Lander to Ohio.

He is survived and loved by his wife and mother to his children, Carol Jean Anthony of Plain City, Ohio; their children: son Tim of Allouez, Michigan and his wife Cathy, Terry Anthony of Bessemer City, North Carolina and his wife Terri, Todd Anthony of Lander, PA and his wife Michelle, and Tracie Peterson of Plain City, OH and her husband Stan; Eleven grandchildren: Brandon (and Tiffany) Anthony, Heather (and Dylan) Matz, Tyler (and Sydnee) Anthony, Scott Anthony, Christin Anthony, Michael (and Laramie) Anthony, Christopher (and Sarah) Anthony, Charlotte (and Jared) Goodykoontz, Carter (and Lauren) Peterson, Allie (and Jon) Linkerhof, and Kyle (and Rhonda) Voty; Six great-grandchildren: Cooper Matz, Annelise and Savannah Goodykoontz, Levin Anthony, Colin Linkerhof, and Kley Voty.

Walt was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His passing was sudden and unexpected but peaceful, just like he always hoped it would be.

He was a rock to many, a master of the dad joke (or as we loving called them-Wally Jokes), a fixer of all things, and lover of most snacks. He loved to eat, laugh and spend time with his family and friends. He was a stranger to no one, willing to talk for hours with people he just met. He loved to people watch.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Tidd Funeral Home in Plain City, Ohio, 9720 State Route 161, Plain City, Ohio, 43064, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 1:00-3:00pm with Funeral Service being held at 1:30pm-2:00pm. A celebration of life and scattering of ashes will also be held at the family farm in Lander, PA in the spring of 2025.
