Richard "Dick" D. Termeer

Richard D. Termeer “Dick”, 92, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025 at his home in Powell, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruthella and Henry Albert Termeer; his brothers, Albert, Jerry, Gary, and Larry Termeer; and his son-in-law, Rich Blagg. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marilyn; his son Rick (Jody) Termeer; his daughters Becki (Joel) Weissinger and Bobbie Termeer; and his granddaughters Kinsey Weissinger, Kalen Weissinger (Kyle Beemiller), and Lindsey Blagg.

Born and raised in Dublin, Dick grew up in a tiny two-bedroom home with his parents and three brothers. He graduated as valedictorian from Dublin High School in 1951, earning nine varsity letters in baseball, basketball, and football. He went on to graduate from Otterbein College in 1955, followed by a Master of Arts in School Administration from The Ohio State University in 1968.

Dick’s career in education and athletics spanned decades. He coached and taught at Mifflin, Jonathan Alder, and Worthington High Schools, where he served as Head Baseball Coach and Athletic Director from 1960 to 1976. He then spent 20 years at the Ohio High School Athletic Association, retiring in 1995 as Assistant Commissioner. In this role, Dick was instrumental in overseeing high school baseball, wrestling, and soccer programs across Ohio. He also served on the National Federation High School Baseball Rules Committee, chairing the committee from 1996 to 1999. His contributions to high school athletics earned him inductions into the Dublin City Schools Alumni Hall of Fame, the Dublin High School Sports Hall of Fame, the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame, the Ohio High School Athletic Directors Hall of Fame, and the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame.

He was a devoted third-generation member of Dublin Community Church, where he twice served as treasurer, and served on the Sanctuary Building Committee among other roles. He also served as Clerk for Washington Township and the Village of Dublin. Dick and Marilyn were dedicated members of the Dublin Historical Society, where he served as Treasurer, and both volunteered extensively for the City of Dublin. In recognition of their service, they were honored with the President's Volunteer Service Award by President Barack Obama in 2009. In 2000, they were named Grand Marshals of the Dublin 4th of July Parade.

Throughout their lives, Dick and Marilyn traveled widely across the U.S., visiting over 40 major league ballparks, over 100 national park sites, and making 17 trips to Disney World, many of which included their beloved granddaughters. Above all, Dick was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, teacher, coach, colleague, and friend to many.

The family will receive friends 2:00-5:00 pm SATURDAY, MARCH 15, 2025 at Tidd Funeral Home, Dublin-Plain City Chapel, 9720 State Route 161, Plain City, OH 43064 (614)-733-0080. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, SUNDAY, MARCH 16, 2025 at DUBLIN COMMUNITY CHURCH, 81 West Bridge Street, Dublin, Ohio 43017, with a reception following. A private burial will be held prior to the Celebration of Life.
