On the afternoon of November 10, 2023, Margherita Kinney of Dublin, Ohio joined our God in heaven at the age of 78. Born in a small, southern Italian town within the Basilicata region to Mauro and Teresa Errico, Margherita was the second youngest of six children.
She always wanted to move to a “big city” and in 1961 at the age of 16, she did just that by moving to Naples, Italy. A few years later Margherita met a US Navy man whom she would marry in 1966 and by 1969 their small family of four would relocate to the US Naval Base in Norfolk, VA. In 1978, the family of five relocated to Columbus, Ohio to be closer to family. It was in Ohio where Margherita would establish herself as a devoted and loving, never to be messed with, tiny but mighty single parent.
Margherita took immense pride in everything she did from raising her children to learning how to read and write English at The Columbus Literacy Council, to being a loyal and valuable employee, and overcoming any obstacle in her way.
Her passions involved her love of the arts, specifically drawing, dancing, listening to music, creating and maintaining an impeccable garden, and dining at Red Lobster. However, her greatest loves were her family, friends, faith in God and the enjoyment of walking around the neighborhood everyday greeting familiar faces and meeting new ones.
Margherita is preceded in death by her parents Mauro and Teresa Errico, her stepmother Caterina Errico and her siblings Francesco Errico and Maria Esposito.
She is survived by her children James (Sasha) Kinney, William Kinney, and Adriana (Jeff) Eger; her four grandchildren Shelby Kinney, Jalyn Kinney, Luca Eger and Noah Eger and her siblings Lucia Orme, Ernesto Errico, and Antonio Errico.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
The family asks that flowers be sent to Tidd Funeral Home, 9720 State Route 161 in Plain City, Ohio.
