Kathleen Thérèse Zinzer McCarthy of Dublin, Ohio, went to Heaven on Friday, December 2, 2022, surrounded by her family.
She was the loving wife of Brett Christopher McCarthy for nineteen years and the amazing mother of three beautiful children, Reagan, Brendan, and Jacqueline.
She graduated from Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, PA, in 1985, Boston College in 1989, and the New England College of Optometry, where she earned her Doctorate in 1993, focusing on pediatric optometry and binocular vision. She completed her residency in Southern California.
Survived by many loving relatives, she is the daughter of Ron and Betsey Zinzer of Wrightstown, PA, her four sisters, Beth McGinnis of Walled Lake, MI, Eileen D'Ginto (Vincent) of Perkasie, PA, Elaine Kifolo of Perkasie, PA, and Christine Iannacone (David) of Yardley, PA, In-laws Jim and Janet McCarthy of Chesapeake City, MD, Michael McCarthy of Pottstown, PA, and Kelly Breiner (Carl) of Hampton, VA. Loving nieces and nephews, Cassy Kifolo, Lauren Graham (Adam), Miranda Kifolo, Christopher McGinnis, Avery McGinnis, Andrew Iannacone, Megan Iannacone, Daniel Iannacone, Kayla Graham, Aiden Graham, Alex McCarthy, William Breiner, and Matthew Breiner.
Kathleen's most cherished role was motherhood. She also enjoyed Girl Scouts, boating and sailing, skiing, softball, swimming, Old English Sheepdogs, photography, volunteering, traveling, and summertime visits to Cape Cod with family.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 2:00p.m. at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, 7179 Avery Road, Dublin, Ohio 43017. Everyone is welcome to attend a Celebration of Life Reception afterwards from 3:00-5:00p.m. at Hendricks Hall on the St. Brigid Campus. The family requests that bright colored clothing be worn instead of black attire.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 11:00a.m. at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA 18940. Burial immediately following at All Saints Cemetery, also in Newtown, PA. All are welcome to celebrate Kathleen's life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to an organization that was very important to Kathleen: Camp Kesem at Ohio State University, 3501 W. 18th Ave., Columbus, OH 43210 www.kesem.org/chapters/ohio. Camp Kesem is a national non-profit organization that emphasizes supporting children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. Donations would be greatly appreciated.
