Joyce Jean Russell

Joyce Jean (Gilkerson) Russell went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2022, with her family by her side.  She was the first born child to Dorothy Gilkerson and late Herman Gilkerson on March 24, 1937 in Wayne, West Virginia.  She was married to Donald Edward Russell for 46 years before his passing in 1999. Together they raised two children and enjoyed spending their time with their grandchildren.

Joyce enjoyed traveling home and visiting her family, especially canning vegetables with her sisters and attending church services. In her last few years, Joyce lived with her daughter, Robin, where she enjoyed making memories and being around the family dog, Teddy. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Joyce is survived by her children, Donald “Donnie” Edward Jr. (Shirley) and Robin Sue (Drew) Hayes; grandchildren, Jason (Katharine) Hayes, Alicia (Joseph) Broughton and Abby (Spencer) Bates; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Abby, Layla, Jaxon, Charlie and Jensen; siblings, Kay Ross, Mabel (Tom) Hawkins, Janice (Arnold) Russell, Melvin Gilkerson, Homer (Carla) Gilkerson; many nieces and nephews; her very close friends, Mary, Claire and Connie; along with her very special friend, Crystal.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Plain City/Dublin Chapel, 9720 State Route 161, Plain City, Ohio 43064, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Pastor Danny Vanscoy and Pastor Ben York officiating. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Hilliard.
