John Dellinger, age 84, of Plain City, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Milford Center – Chuckery, OH. After retirement from General Motors, he fulfilled his calling of volunteering with Laborers for Christ to help build seven different Churches in five different states. A US Army National Guard Veteran, he was actively involved in all aspects of Plain City American Legion Post 248. He was a founding member of Union County Military Family Support Group, and had a strong personal commitment to, and continual involvement in the organization. John enjoyed woodworking and building toys for his grandchildren. He was a skilled craftsman and proficient handyman. John also enjoyed gardening, traveling with his family and with the Golden Eagles, cooking, and could be found every Monday volunteering at the Country Closet Thrift Shop in Plain City. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Amelia Dellinger, sisters Marcella Dellinger and Mildred Nicol, and brother-in-law Willard Nicol. He is survived by his loving wife Annetta Dellinger, son Douglas (Libby) Dellinger and daughter Laura (Mark) Marshall, grandchildren Robbie (Korryn) Dellinger, DJ (Christie) Dellinger, Megan (Kevin) Butler and Kirstin Marshall, great grandchildren Oliver Dellinger, Tess Dellinger, Beckett Butler and Aubree Butler. Family will receive friends from 2pm-7pm Friday, March 1, 2024 at TIDD FUNERAL HOME, PLAIN CITY/DUBLIN CHAPEL, 9720 State Route 161 Plain City, OH 43064. A Celebration of Life will be held 11am Saturday, March 2, 2024; with visitation one hour prior to the time of service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 7960 OH-38, Milford Center, OH 43045. Interment at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Marysville, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made by mail to Union County Military Family Support Group, PO Box 1001 Marysville, OH 43040 or Lutheran Hour Ministries at www.lhm.org
