Dessie (Dial) McDonald

Dessie McDonald, 77, of North Lewisburg, passed away Thursday, September 5th, 2024 in OSU Hospital in Columbus. She was born July 17, 1947 in Columbus, the daughter of Herbert and Dessie Dial, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, George, and a sister, Jane Dial. 

Dessie and her husband, Don, have been dedicated partners in life and in their business, McDonald Funeral Homes of North Lewisburg, Mechanicsburg, and West Jefferson. 

Dessie earned an Associate’s degree at Clark State College, and was a past Grand Worthy Matron of Caroline Chapter #448, Order of the Eastern Star of Mechanicsburg. She enjoyed golf, bowling, travel, and family. 

She is survived by her husband, Donald “Donk” McDonald; two sons, Gains and wife Tacey McDonald of Monroe, Michigan and Brody and wife Marty McDonald of Kettering, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brody, Davis, Ayla, and Miles; a sister, Debbie Dial; a brother, Dan and wife Mel Dial; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Karen McDonald-Meyers and husband Carl, and Beverly and husband Tony Addy. 

Friends and family may call from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM Tuesday, September 10th, in the Rader, McDonald & Tidd Funeral Home of West Jefferson. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11th, in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Trimble, Ohio.
